Christa Payne is an avid web designer/developer, videographer, photographer, designer and even colourist. She acquired this vast skill set with over 15 years in the industry. During this time, she worked at an embroidery shop running machines and creating designs in a small town. She then relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba to attend Red River College of Applied Arts, Science and Technology and studied Digital Media Design.

Christa’s time at Red River College was never wasted, the program was packed full of new stuff keeping everyone busy. With classes that consisted of graphic design, art history, 3D modeling/animation, life drawing, photography, typography, videography, motion graphics and web development. While in her last year she went on to major in videography and motion graphics.

Due to Christa’s vast skill set, her position is considered to be a New Media Designer. What is a New Media Designer? A single person that is trained to work with a wide variety of modern digital technology and programs.

The day after college ended, Christa was hired at Relish New Brand Experience in Winnipeg, MB as their second videographer and also assist their web department. She later became their sole videographer and was in charge of all video work. Typical videos that were being produced included intros/extros, promotional videos and digital media billboard ads. She often took photographs of past print work for the studio’s website and always had web work to do. While working at Relish, she also gained a new skill as a comic book colorist. Christa was given the opportunity to colour a few published graphic novels that came in the door. After working at Relish for just over a year, she relocated yet again to start a new adventure.

Christa moved to Qu’Appelle, Sk and started her own full time new media business in 2013 out of her home. She was located there for over a year until she purchased an embroidery shop in Nipawin, SK the summer of July 2015. She renamed the company to Nipawin Embroidery & Design Ltd. and still has her New Media company nested inside at a downtown main street location. Need a Web site? New logo? Business Cards? T-shirts?
